Within 30 calendar days from the date you received your citation, you must comply by selecting one of the following options:License suspended, Traffic ticket, traffic citation,
REQUEST COURT HEARING - You may request to take your ticket to court. You can submit your request via the Traffic Upload form.
ELECT TRAFFIC SCHOOL - (if eligible). This option must be submitted in writing along with full payment of the school election price of the citation. Review the Fees & Costs for the school election price of the citation. You may upload your request via the Traffic Upload form.
Failure to comply will result in your driver license being suspended and additional costs assessed.
If you have been issued a citation for failure to carry proof of insurance / registration / driver license, you must submit proof along with payment within 30 calendar days via the Traffic Upload form. Pay the Ticket
If you choose to pay the ticket, points are assessed against your driver license.
Four Ways to Pay
ONLINE:
Search for your case and pay citation fee. There is an additional fee for credit card payments. This option is not available for individuals outside the U.S.
Pay Online
PHONE:
Call 866-253-7528 and follow the prompts. You cannot elect traffic school or pay tickets that require proof of compliance by phone. If outside the U.S., enter the first five digits of your postal code when prompted for the zip code.
IN PERSON:
You may pay at the following locations: 1) Fort Pierce Main Office and 2) St. Lucie West Office. Please visit our Location and Hours page for the address, directions, and current business hours of each location.
BY MAIL:
Make your cashier's check or money order payable to "Clerk and Comptroller, St. Lucie County." Funds must be made in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. Bank.
Write your ticket number(s) on your payment and a phone number where you can be reached on your documentation.
If applicable, include a copy of your driver license, vehicle registration, insurance card, proof of compliance affidavit, or traffic school affidavit.

Elect Traffic School
No points are assessed against your driver license if you attend a driver improvement school. Payment and School Election Affidavit are due within 30 days. Failure to attend the school or pay the fine will result in suspension of your license or late fees being assessed.
Eligibility
- You must not have elected school within the last 12 months or five times in your lifetime.
- Any driver charged with exceeding the speed limit by 30 mph or higher MAY NOT elect traffic school and must appear in court.
- A CDL (Commercial Driver License) holder may not elect school on any citation.
- Non-moving violations are not eligible for school election.
- Use the Driver License Check feature on the Department of Motor Vehicles website to review if there are prior school elections linked to your license.

- Call 772-871-7200 to speak with a Deputy Clerk. First, complete the School Election Affidavit and submit via the Traffic Upload Form

Fees
By electing this option you will pay the rate according to the charge shown on the citation indicated in the Fee w/Driving School Chart. In addition, you are responsible for the Driver Improvement School cost.
TRAFFIC SCHOOL
Visit State of Florida approved list of Driving and Education Course Schools for a list of available Florida approved courses. It is your responsibility to make certain that a Certificate of Completion for traffic school is received by our office. You can verify if your certificate was already electronically filed into the case by using the Public Search Court Case Search option. To file your Certificate of Completion, visit the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal and follow the prompts to establish a self-represented litigant account or sign in if you already have an account.

If you choose to contest the ticket, you must make your request for a hearing in writing to the Clerk within 30 calendar days of the date of the citation. You will be notified of your court date. Alysia has over 15 years of human resource, finance, and administrative experience. She started her career with the Clerk's office as a court clerk in June 2014. She oversees the St. Lucie West branch office, which assists with all aspects of civil traffic, small claims, and county civil, including residential and commercial evictions. Additionally, this branch office provides services for passports, marriage licenses, and recording in the county’s official record. Before joining the Clerk's office, Alysia served in the United States Navy in various supervisory roles.
