Clerk Michelle R. Miller

Clerk & Comptroller

Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller Michelle R. Miller is one of five constitutional officers directly elected by St. Lucie County citizens. She was sworn in as the 11th St. Lucie County Clerk of Court on January 5, 2021, beginning her four-year term. Clerk Miller derives her responsibility and authority from constitutional and statutory provisions. She is responsible for safeguarding all public records and public funds.

Experience

Clerk Miller is a Florida native and served honorably in the US Army, enlisting at 17 as an air traffic controller. It was in this role she first developed the ability to keep a cool head and focus on the problem at hand. The Clerk graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.

Clerk Miller began her own insurance and financial products company in 2002, after becoming a licensed agent in 1996. After creating a successful and thriving business, she found herself drawn to use her education and experience in the criminal justice field. In 2016 Clerk Miller began working with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's department in detention investigations. It was during this time that she recognized the need for leadership at the Clerk's office.

She is happily married to her fabulous husband Gary Morris, a proud mother to incredible adult children, and grandmother of two of the sweetest baby girls on God's green earth.

Accomplishments

Under Clerk Miller, the office has made a commitment to complete transparency and community involvement. After taking the first step to extend hours to serve the public, she has made it her mission to streamline internal processes, eliminate wasteful practices, and expand the awareness of services. The Clerk's office belongs to the people of St. Lucie County, and Clerk Miller is immensely proud to be a custodian of this public trust.

Clerk Miller recognizes that for an organization to thrive, individuals need to be valued for their contribution to the group's success. The mission statement of the Clerk's office under Clerk Miller reflects her conviction that "Together We Aspire. Together We Achieve."
